PANORA — Offensive outbursts from freshman Zac Rizzuti, senior Gracen Welberg and sophomore Luke South lifted host Panorama to an 81-70 win over Ogden in West Central Activities Conference action Friday.
Ogden (8-11, 6-11) was an 83-78 winner when the two teams met Jan. 2, with Ben Heeren pouring in 23 points for the Bulldogs. Heeren had 23 points and teammate Kayden Kruse 21 Friday, but their efforts were more than offset by 26 points from Rizzuti, 21 from Welberg and 15 from South.
Steady play helped carry the contest for Panorama (6-14, 4-13). The Panthers led, 17-16, after one frame and 40-35 at the half, with the two teams scoring 41 and 35 points, respectively, in the second half as the hosts slowly pulled away for the victory.
Ogden last led at 47-46 midway through the third period, which ended with the hosts holding a 56-53 edge. Panorama was clinging to a 62-59 lead when two brief runs widened the gap and delivered the win.
Michael Allen had eight points to aid the winning cause, with Jacob Merschman scoring seven points and Blaine Barber and Kolby Shackelford two points apiece.
Noah Snedden provided 12 points for the guests, with Jacob Craven adding six points, Griffen Diggs four and Sawyer Wagner and Charlie Lake two points each.
Ogden hit eight 3-pointers in the game (Kruse had four) and was 10-of-16 at the foul line, with Panorama landing five treys while shooting a sizzling 14-of-17 at the stripe.
The Panthers will wrap their regular season with a junior varsity/varsity set against WCAC foe Woodward Academy Tuesday in the W-G Middle School gym.
