The Panorama Panther girls basketball team started their new year season by turning heads with a crushing 81-4 win over the Ogden Bulldogs Friday at home.

Mia Waddle, Tyme Boettcher, Zoey Hambleton and Jaidyn Sellers led the Panthers in scoring with double digits.

“With this being the first game back from winter break and the emotional events this week, we reminded the team stay focused on the fundamentals and working together,” said Coach Boettcher. “It was a great team win with every girl contributing.”

The Panther fans and Ogden fans both wore blue in memory of the tragic events at Perry High School last week.

The Panthers are now 10-0 overall and ranked second in the West Central Conference standings. Their next game is Thursday at Nodaway Valley and then Friday against Van Meter at home.

The Panther boys also brought home a win for the new year, overcoming the Bulldogs 59-45.

Freshman Trey Boettcher led the team with 18 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists. Braylon Dawes added 13 points and 2 assists, and Maddox Hammerstrom pulled down 12 rebounds with 9 assists. AJ Draper added 11 points with 6 rebounds.

The boys next games are Thursday at Nodaway Valley and Friday at home against Van Meter.
