Panorama's Bailey Beckman turns DMC's Olivia Penland while leading a break during their regional final last season.

GILBERT — Panorama used a 15-6 scoring edge in the third quarter to open a 10-point lead, then held on from there for a 45-38 win over host Gilbert Nov. 20.

The Panthers, ranked ninth in Class 2A, defeated 4A Gilbert thanks in part to a 35-31 rebounding edge and by using an aggressive style to generate 31 free throw attempts. Panorama shot uncharacteristically poor from the line, converting only 15 of their foul shots, but that still overwhelmed the 4-of-11 outing at the line from the host Tigers.

Bailey Beckman led all scorers with 21 points to pace Panorama. Morgan Johnk added 11 points, freshman Payton Beckman six points and Ella Waddle three. Two points from Lydia Knapp and single points from both Anna Holloway and Brooke Halterman capped the Panther scoring.

Johnk pulled down eight rebounds, with Bailey Beckman grabbing six boards while coming up with five steals and making four assists.

The Panthers are off tonight (Tuesday) but will start a three-game boys/girls homestand Friday when Woodward-Granger visits. IKM-Manning will visit Saturday for a twin set beginning at 1 p.m. with Pleasantville coming to Panora Tuesday. Friday and Tuesday WCAC contests will both begin with the girls games at 6 p.m.
