Panther girls win three of last five

MADRID — A 6-5 road win in WCAC play Tuesday followed two Saturday wins to lift Panorama softball to 4-3 overall for the season. The wins follow a pair of losses to visiting Pleasantville in league play Thursday.

Panorama led Tuesday’s contest, 3-0, before Madrid closed to within 3-2. The guests led, 6-4, after five innings, before the Tigers added a final run in the sixth. The hosts were set down in order in their final at-bat as Panther pitcher Grace Richey preserved her own win in the ring.

Richey allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks. She struck out four in collecting the victory.

Shey Storesund and Jazmyn Sellers had three singles apiece, with Grace Webner blasting a solo home run in the second inning. Jaidyn Sellers had a single and a walk and Richey also drew walk while Storesund and Jazmyn Sellers both drove in runs.

The Panthers had an easy time at home Saturday, defeating Northwest Webster, 14-5, after a 17-2 whipping of Boyer Valley.

Storesund had a double and two singles against NW Webster, with Claire Woodworth adding a home run and a single. Lindy Nelson had two double, Jaidyn Sellers a single and a triple and Jazmyn Sellers a double. Storesund and Nelson each had three RBIs and Woodworth two.

Richey allowed five runs (three earned) on seven hits and four walks while fanning four. She yielded two runs on five hits and whiffed three in a three-inning win over Boyer Valley.

Jaidyn Sellers had a double, three singles, three steals and three RBIs, with Woodworth having a single and a double and Richey two hits and three RBIs. Nelson had two RBIs with a home run and a single, with Zoey Hambleton adding two singles while Storesund had a RBI-single and three stolen bases.

Pleasantville won the opener, 14-4, Thursday, and followed up with an 11-8 win in the nightcap.

The Panther defense allowed nine of 14 runs in the first game to be unearned, with Richey allowing nine hits while walking three.

Woodworth had three hits, Webner two singles and a double and Jazmyn Sellers two hits. Storesund had two hits and three RBIs, Nelson a RBI-hit and Jaidyn Sellers a single.

Caitlyn Sloss had a single and a RBI in the second game while walking twice and also being hit by a pitch. Jazmyn Sellers had two double, Woodworth and Storesund two singles each and Hmableton and Nelson base hits. Woodworth, Hambleton and Jazmyn Sellers drove in one run apiece.

Richey was given the loss in the circle. She was touched for 11 runs (only three earned) on 10 htis and two walks. Richey hit one batter and struck out another.
