Panther netters win two of final five in regular season

WOODWARD — The Panorama volleyball team split four matches at W-G’s Norm McCune Invite Saturday, two days after being swept by visiting Des Moines Christian in their WCAC finale.

Panorama ends their regular season 16-11 overall and 7-3 in league play, finishing third behind 10-0 DMC and 9-1 W-G while AC/GC also posted a 7-3 mark.

Thursday’s loss to DMC came on scores of 25-14, 25-14 and 25-12.

Kennedy Kuta had 11 assists and served 9-of-9, with Bailey Beckman 8-of-8 serving with six digs. Morgan Johnk had five kills and seven digs, with Brooke Halterman and Olivia Richey each making four kills.

Panorama defeated Colfax-Mingo, 25-23 and 21-16 while also defeating Fort Dodge, though game scores against the Dodgers were not provided. W-G topped Panorama, 21-16 and 21-11, with Roland-Story recording a 21-14, 21-9 victory over the Panthers.

Halterman had 21 total kills, Johnk 11, Beckman seven, Erica Block six, Richey three and Kuta one. Kuta had 44 assists, with Block and Halterman adding one each. Beckman’s 14 digs led the team, with Kuta making 11, Johnk 10, Halterman nine and Hannah Woodworth eight, with Richey tallying seven and Block two.

Richey was 15-of-17 serving with three aces, with Kuta 18-19-1 and Halterman 19-21-2. Johnk was 17-18-1, Woodworth 12-15-1 and Beckman 17-of-18.

All statistics are without W-G match, which were not provided.

Panorama hosts Van Meter tonight in a Class 2A Region 3 contest at 7 p.m. Van Meter (15-12) was a 3-1 winner in Panora Oct. 2. The winner advances to play host Earlham Oct. 22.
