Panthers drop pair of close matches at Titan triangular

ROCKWELL CITY — The Panorama volleyball team faced both Greene County and host South Central Calhoun at the SCC Middle School Tuesday, with the Panthers falling in a pair of tightly-contested matches.

Panorama opened play with a 25-21 win over the hosts, who rallied to win the second set, 25-21. A 15-6 Titan win in the third set claimed the match. The Panthers then fell to the Rams, 25-22 and 25-21, to fall to 4-3 overall for the season.

Jordan Douglass had a combined five kills, Tyme Boettcher and Jaidyn Sellers four each, with Audrey Cmelik and Grace Richey making two each and Angel Poldberg and Emma Powell one each. Richey assisted on 10 kills and Powell on three, with Douglass and Richey tallying two digs each.

The Panther defense was strong at the net, with Richey having 3.5 blocks and Jaidyn Sellers three. Jazmyn Sellers recorded 1.5 blocks, with Douglass and Poldberg making one block apiece while Boettcher assisted on a block. Douglass, Paige Cmelik, and Brix Gymer had seven digs apiece, with Audrey Cmelik recording three blocks and Richey one.

Panorama struggled through their worst serving outing of the season, converting only 51-of-65 (78 percent) with six total aces.

Douglass was 14-of-15 with an ace behind the line, with Audrey Cmelike 8-10-1, Richey 6-8-1 and Jaidyn Sellers 4-8-1. Powell was 10-14-2, Gymer was 7-of-8, and Paige Cmelik was 2-of-2.

Panorama plays AHSTW and Lenox Saturday at the Southwest Valley Tourney in Corning, with the Panthers to visit West Central Valley Tuesday.
