DES MOINES, Iowa — The Panorama Panthers girls basketball team started their State basketball journey Wednesday at the Well against their first opponent: Central Lyon, which won 66-30.

“We knew going into this game that it would be tough due to their size and length,” said Coach Boettcher.

Leading the Panther scoring were Tyme Boettcher with 9, Jaidyn Sellers with 8 and Mia Waddle with 5. The Panthers had a hard time getting their shots to fall, but the were strong on defense and forced 13 turnovers from the Lady Lions.

Coach Boettcher also said, “We did not shoot the ball well,” said Coach Boettcher, “but we did take care of the ball and stayed determined to the end.”

The Panthers will lose three senior cagers to graduation this year: Jazmyn Sellers, McKenna Burns and Emily Lutz.

“I am extremely honored to have had the opportunity to coach our three seniors from 7th grade to now,” said Coach Boettcher. “They not only improved their basketball skills but grew as teammates and leaders. They taught us all how to put the team first and did it with such poise and grace. As their coach, to be able to share not two but two State tournaments with them is something special that no one can take from us. Seniors Jazmyn Sellers, McKenna Burns and Emily Lutz are our Most Valuable Panthers this season!”

The Panthers season ends with an overall record of 22-3 and 14-1 in the conference.

“The Basketball coaching staff and team are extremely grateful for all the support this week and throughout the season!” said Coach Boettcher. “We will continue to play for you, togetHER!”
