Panthers fight off visiting Bulldogs

PANORA — Host Panorama dispatched Ogden, 3-0, in WCAC volleyball action Tuesday.

The Panthers moved to 2-1 with the win while Ogden dropped to 1-1. The home team won the first set, 25-6, before posting a 25-18 win in set two. The Panthers then squeezed out a 26-24 win in week three to claim the sweep.

Jordan Douglass had six kills to lead Panorama, with Shey Storesund and Jaidyn Sellers making three kills apiece and Audrey Cmelik two. Sellers had two blocks and Storesund one, with Cmelik and Angel Poldberg having an assisted block apiece.

Douglass had two assists, with Sellers, Cmelik, Poldberg, and Brix Gymer all distributing one assist each.

Seven digs from Douglass and five apiece from Storesund and Paige Cmelik paced the Panther defense. Gymer, Grace Richey, and Emmal Powell all tallied a pair of digs.

Richey served 18-of-18 with seven aces, with Douglass serving 16-of-17 with three aces while Paige Cmelik was 9-10-3 and Powell 9-13-1. Audrey Cmelik was 7-of-7 and Storesund 5-of-6 as the team finished 64-71-14 behind the line, a success rate of 90.1 percent.

Panorama hosts Glidden-Ralston Thursday for a closed-gym junior varsity/varsity scrimmage. Saturday’s CR-B tourney has been cancelled, with a Tuesday trip to Madrid the next official action for Panorama.
