Panthers post two wins on hardwood over host Roadrunners

TRURO — Panorama was a double-victor in WCAC basketball at Interstate-35 Friday, with the Panther girls claiming a 56-14 win while the visiting boys topped the Roadrunners, 63-53.

The Panthers (15-4, 11-2) had control of the opener from the start after racing leads of 22-2 after one quarter of play and of 32-6 after two frames. The margin swelled to 50-11 at the end of three stanzas as the I-35 girls fell to 3-13 overall and 3-10 in league action.

Laci Rishel led all scorers with 19 points, with Angel Poldberg adding 13, and Shey Storesund six. Ella Waddle contributed six points, Payton Beckman and Tyme Boettcher five apiece and Mia Waddle two.

Poldberg gathered seven rebounds, with Beckman making five assists and Rishel four while Storesund blocked a pair of shots.

The Panther boys, led, 18-9, after the first quarter but saw their lead trimmed to 37-32 at the intermission. The visitors responded with an 18-10 third period to spread the margin to 55-42 en route to the victory.

Panorama moved to 14-4 and 10-3 with the win while I-35 dropped to 5-10 and 4-9.

Lucas Leiferman scorched the nets for 26 points for the Panthers, with Dominic Walker and Drew Taylor each providing 10 points and eight rebounds. Evan Taylor had eight points and Preston Walker five, with Brice Taylor and Jared Wasson having two points apiece.

Statistical information for the Roadrunner teams was not available.
