Panthers strike early to ground Cardinals

EARLHAM — Three first inning runs were followed by a pair of scores in the second as visiting Panorama notched a 5-2 win over Earlham in WCAC baseball Thursday.

Four Panther pitchers combined to allow just four hits to the hosts, with the two Cardinal runs crossing the plate in the sixth.

Luke South earned the win after allowing two hits, and walk and a hit batsman in three innings on the hill. Dominic Walker yielded two runs on two hits, three walks and one hit batter in three frames of relief, with Drew Taylor walking one and striking out one while recording two outs. Preston Walker struck out a batter for his only out on the bump. South had finished with three strikeouts and Dominic Walker with two.

Evan Taylor had a triple and two walks for the guests, with South having a RBI-single and Drew Taylor a single, walk and RBI. Brice Taylor had two doubles, a single and a RBI, Dominic Walker two hits and a RBI and Jack Weinkoetz a single and a RBI, with Austin Block and Malachi Peasley also having base hits.

South, Block, Evan Taylor, Drew Taylor and Brice Taylor scored for Panorama (4-1, 3-1).

Earlham fell to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in league play with the loss.

Panorama hosts Van Meter tonight and visits AC/GC Monday. The Panthers entertain Ogden Tuesday, Interstate-35 Thursday and West Central Valley July 3.
