Panthers win three of last five on the court

PANORA — The Panorama volleyball team topped Madrid, 3-1, in WCAC play Tuesday. The victory lifts the Panthers to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play while the Tigers fall to 1-4, 0-3.

While the match result was provided, game scores and individual statistics have not been reported.

Panorama was coming off a 2-1 mark Saturday at the Coon Rapids-Bayard tourney and a WCAC loss, Sept. 3, to Ogden.

Saturday’s three-match run saw the Panthers top Paton-Churdan, 21-19, 19-21 and 15-11 and CAM, 21-18, 13-21 and 15-10 before falling to host CR-B, 25-19, 25-18. Ogden defeated Panorama, 3-2, winning the second and fourth games before sealing the match with a 15-6 win in game five.

During those four matches Maggie Woodvine’s 20 combined kills led the team, with Jordan Douglass making 15 kills and Shey Storesund nine. Grace Richey (3), Audrey Cmelik (2) and Emma Powell (1) also had kills, with Powell distributing 36 assists.

Cmelik served 23-of-23 and Paige Cmelik 17-of-17 with two aces while Douglass was 25-of-29 behind the line. Woodvine was 37-46-9, Powell 36-42-6 and Lindsey VanGundy 33-38-9, with Storesund 8-14-2, Richey 7-9-2 and Brix Gymer 6-of-6 on serves.

Panorama will join CR-B, Des Moines North, Earlham and Ogden at the Perry Invite Thursday, with play beginning at 4:30 p.m. The team will then host Pleasantville Tuesday.
