Without violating the governor’s social-distancing directives, a small group of warmhearted friends and neighbors gathered briefly Tuesday evening to wish Paul Herrick of Perry a very happy 80th birthday.
Joining Paul’s wife, Marilyn, and their children and grandchildren in singing “Happy Birthday” were many members of the Parkview Estates condo community.
The surprise party was masterminded by Patti Kelleher, Paul and Marilyn’s daughter, and included the distribution of fresh cookies.
Surprise visitors were two units from the fleet of the Perry Volunteer Fire Department, each decorated with “Happy Birthday!” signs. After a busy few days by the local volunteer firefighters, the crew were happy to have some light duty for an evening.
“It’s amazing how creative people can get during these ‘non-normal’ times!” said Marilyn. “Thanks to all for being here and for enhancing Paul’s day!”
