Perry boys join DMC on the links at Greene County

JEFFERSON — The smallest of the three schools in a boys golf triangular Thursday came away with the win, as Des Moines Christian topped both host Greene County and Perry.

The Lions finished with a combined score of 175 to claim the win. Greene County fired a 179, with Perry finishing with a 182.

Noah Wilkening’s 42 was the low score for Perry. Dane McCarty and Luke Rathje each had cards of 46, with Tanner Duffy shooting a 48. Wilkening, McCarty and Rathje had three pars apiece, with Wilkening adding a birdie while Duffy made par on two of nine holes.

Rounds of 48 from Conner Nielsen and of 72 from Brady Iben were not used toward the Perry team total. The Bluejays had only three junior varsity players make the trip, with Gabe Ridnour carding a 54, Kade Kilmer a 66 and Dakota Strough a 90.

Nate Juffer and Tommy Weissenburger had rounds of 42 for DMC, with Drew Shisler finishing with a 45 and Matt Wynne with a 46 for the Lions.

The host Rams were led by meet medalist Elijah Block’s two-over par 38. Isiah Yoder and Jaden Block provided rounds of 45 for Greene County, with Chase Juergensen turning in a 51.

Perry will host Bondurant-Farrar and Carlisle Tuesday before playing in the Woodward-Granger Invitational Thursday in their next two upcoming matches.
