A pair of strong teams from Roland-Story recorded victories over host Perry in HOIAC basketball Friday.

The R-S girls (3-1, 3-0) were 61-24 victors in the opener, with the Norsemen (4-0, 3-0) 55-29 winners in the boys game. The losses dropped the Jayettes to 3-3 overall and 0-3 in league play, with the Bluejays now 0-4 and 0-3.

Perry fell into deep holes early in both games, with the Jayettes trailing 24-10 at the intermission of their contest. A 14-8 third quarter in favor of the guests created a 38-18 margin, with a 23-6 final frame blowing open the score.

Lydia Olejniczak led Perry with 15 points. Maci Tunink had three points, with Jayna Kenney, Callie Steva and Kathryn West each adding two points.

R-S sank 11 3-pointers and Perry just one (Tunink). Reagan Barkema splashed five treys for all of her 15 points, with six other players each having one triple.

The Bluejays struggled from the outset, trailing 24-7 after eight minutes and 42-10 after 16.

Geren Kenney hit three 3-pointers en route to a team-best 11 points, with Holden Smith adding six points and Drake Levan four. Matthew Booker had three points, Kaelen Davis and Kaleb Lyddon two apiece and Owen Myers one.

Booker finished with four rebounds for Perry, with Lyddon and Myers having three caroms each.
