Perry celebrated a safe and sane Independence Day Tuesday, with a festive parade in the morning and a park full of activities all day, wrapping up with city-sponsored fireworks in the evening.
There were very few fireworks complaints lodged with the Perry Police Department, and countywide the Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to only six fireworks complaints between 6 a.m. and midnight, according to county records.
The Perry City Council amended chapter 125 of the Perry city code in 2022, stating that the city “deems the use of consumer fireworks as a threat to public safety or a nuisance to landowners and therefore prohibits the use of consumer fireworks within the Perry City limits, except for commercial displays that have received a permit from the City of Perry.”

Happy Independence Day!
