Perry girls blast visiting Boone

Four players scored for Perry Thursday as the host Jayettes posted a 9-0 win over Boone in Raccoon River Conference girls soccer at Dewey Field.

Junior Jaqueline Guardado had a hat trick (three goals), with fellow juniors Molly Lutmer and Hannah Peterson each scoring twice while junior Paolo Gomez scored once. Boone (0-7, 0-4) was also guilty of an own goal.

Perry (4-4, 2-2) led, 4-0, at the half. Unassisted goals from Guardado (21st minute), Lutmer (24th) and Guardado (25th) opened a 3-0 gulf, with Gomez scoring off an Elizabeth Rodriguez assist in the 29th minute for the fourth Perry score.

Lutmer scored 32 seconds into the second half and Guardado just over two minutes later as the score moved to 6-0. Boone scored against themselves in the 53rd minutes. with Peterson scored 28 seconds afterward off an Emely Rodriguez pass.

Peterson capped the scoring with 15:24 still on clock by heading the ball into the net off a Lutmer assist.

Carly Anderson finished with three saves in goal for the Jayettes.

The Perry junior varsity was also victorious. The hosts scored a 1-0 win when Beyonce Gonzalez beat the keeper for the lone goal of the game.

Goalie Britney Rivera preserved the shutout with a save.

Perry will host Des Moines Christian Monday before visiting Newton Friday. The varsity game Monday will be played first, with a special start time of 5:30 p.m.
