Perry girls come up empty at ADM Classic

ADEL — The Perry volleyball team stumbled to an 0-5 record at the annual ADM Classic Thursday.

Perry dropped all five 21-point matches in consecutive sets. W-G claimed a win of 21-14, 21-7, with Gilbert winning 21-18 and 21-9 while ADM topped Perry 21-6 and 21-13. Norwalk bested Perry 21-15 and 21-13, with Nevada posting a 21-9 and 21-11 win over Perry.

Kacy Nevitt finished with six total kills, with Gabby West tallying five kills, Jasmine Shriver, Peyton Tunink and Mackenzie Ayers four apiece while Quinn Whiton and Stephanie Garcia contributed two kills each. Nevitt recorded two blocks, Ayers one and Tunink and West .5 blocks each.

Whiton’s 19 total assists paced Perry, with Garcia, Nevitt, West and Magley Orellana each having one assist.[wpedon id=”85410″ align=”left”]

Orellana made 27 digs, Shriver 18 and Ayers 12. Tunink had 11 digs, Nevitt nine, Whiton seven, Garcia four and West, Jayna Kenney and Mary Ann Riesberg two apiece.

Tunink served 16-of-23 with three aces and Nevitt 13-16-2, with Ayers 16-of-19, Whiton 15-of-19 and Shriver 10-of-11. Ainsley Marburger was 8-of-8 behind the line, Orellana 4-of-4 and both Kenney and West 0-for-1. Jasmin Olmos also saw playing time for Perry.

Perry returns to Adel to battle ADM in a Raccoon River Conference match Tuesday before hosting the Jayette Invite Sept. 6. Carlisle, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Earlham, Ogden and Panorama are all scheduled to participate.
