Four teams were welcomed to the Perry Golf and Country Club by host Perry Saturday for the annual 18-hole Jayette Invitational.

Humboldt recorded the second, third, fourth and fifth lowest individual scores to demolish the field in winning the team title at 364 strokes. The drop to second place was an almost unheard-of 63 strokes (so impressive were the Wildcats), with Perry the runner-up on 427 strokes. DC-G was third at 431, with Norwalk fourth at 450 and Dowling Catholic fifth at 485.

Perry senior Brooke Huntington just missed a top five spot after shooting a team-best 46-50–96, a round which included an eagle 3 on the par 5 fifth hole. Alyssa Kruger had one birdie in shooting a 50-50–100, with two pars from Sarah Sweet helping the senior to a 57-57–114 while Delaney Eiteman carded a 59-58–117.

The Jayettes, who were playing without Skylar Cunningham, also received a 60-62–122 from Madyson Hill, but did not use her result for the team total.

Humboldt was sharp and consistent in cruising to the win. Brooke Anderson (44-45–89) and Fances [sic] Carlson (47-42–89) led the way, with Avery Terwilliger (44-47–91) and Olivia Birdsell (45-50–95) also scoring.

Aubree King led DC-G with her 49-50–99, with Maddie Calease shooting 51-59–110, Lydia Steier 59-51–110 and Sarah Rauschenberg 56-56–112.

Scoring for Norwalk were Lizzy Putbrese (54-54–108), Camri Vivone (56-54–110), Emily Ellis (56-54–110) and Rachel Elliott (63-59–122).

Dowling’s Anne Gradoville claimed the overall medalist honors after turning in a 41-42–83. Her Maroon teammates offered little help, with Ellite Pigott (51-57–108), Lizzy DeCarlo (78-57–135) and Isabella Brunkhorst (87-72–159) the other scorers.

Players who, like Perry’s Hill, did not have their scores used toward their team totals were Halie George (47-49–96) and Brenna Howard (59-46–105) from Humboldt, Annagrace Dalbey (59-58–117) and Grace Wengert (62-62–124) from DC-G, Angelica Hill (77-76–153) from Norwalk and Cate Brunia (88-77–165) and Sara Rush (88-93–181) from Dowling.

Perry will return to action Monday when they join Carlisle and Des Moines Roosevelt for a quadrangular against host Bondurant-Farrar at Terrace Hills. The Jayettes will then be off until Saturday, when they will play in the 18-hole Winterset Invitational.
