Perry girls track runs in Ballard Invite

HUXLEY — The Perry girls placed in 11 of 19 events — winning two — at the Ballard Invitatioanl Friday.

North Polk scored 152 points to claim the team title, with Gilbert the runner-up at 130 points while Perry finished fifth out of seven teams with 62 points.

A pair of personal-best efforts led to both of the Jayette victories, with Sid Vancil winning the 800 in 2 minutes, 28.2 seconds while Jasmine Shriver claimed the 100 in 13.01 seconds.

Grace Stewart was second in the 3000 in 11:29.1, a new PB, with her 5:29.7 clocking earning fourth place in the 1500 while Quinn Whiton produced a PB of 29.29 to place fifth in the 200.

Whiton landed third in the long jump at 14 feet, 6-1/2 inches, with Shriver fifth at 14’5 while Rylynn Gilmore’s push of 29’4-1/2 earned third place in the shot put.

Shriver, Vancil, Isabel Saemisch and Kennedy Tunink teamed for second in the sprint medley in 2:00.16, with Shriver, Saemisch, Vancil, and Damaris Robles crossing fourth in the 4×400 in 4:40.

Star Love, Sophie Prombo, Lanie Fish, and Brooklyn Dekoter placed sixth in the 4×200 (2:19.02) for the Jayettes, with the distance medley foursome of Sandra Perez, Aliece Fox, Joanna Rodriguez and Tunink placing sixth in 5:32.7.

Perry will return to action Thursday when they compete in the Raccoon River Conference at Carlisle.
