Marie Pohl, left, and Karen Martin, each a 40-year veteran of the Perry Hy-Vee, were congratulated at a free public retirement party Jan. 13, 2018, at the Perry Hy-Vee.

Two 40-year employees of the Perry Hy-Vee will retire this week, and a free public retirement party is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 13 from 1-3 p.m. at the Perry Hy-Vee.

Marie Pohl, a 40-year veteran of the Hy-Vee kitchen, and Karen Martin, with 40 years in the  Hy-Vee bakery, will receive a warm send off with the public party in the afternoon and an employee party in the evening. Both current and former employees will gather to wish them well.

“Please stop in and join us in wishing them a happy retirement after 40 years with the Perry Hy-Vee,” said Community Events Coordinator Larry Vodenik, “and join them for free cake and refreshments.”

Vodenik noted Pohl’s photo will also grace the side of a Hy-Vee semi-tractor trailer that will be on display at Hy-Vee during the Saturday parties, weather permitting.
