Perry junior varsity, middle school cross country results released

The Perry cross country teams hosted the 17th annual Leon Fox Invitational Thursday at the Perry Golf and Country Club. Boys junior varsity results, and results from both the boys and girls two-mile middle school races, were also made available.

The Perry girls had only two members run in their JV competition and thus did not report a team score. Marleni Grijalva finished in 30 minutes, 1.4 seconds, with Fatima Rodriguez crossing in 30:35.25.

Ballard won the boys JV race with 21 points, with Perry seventh in a 12-team race. A total of 162 runners were in action.

Hayden McFarland was the first Perry harrier to finish, crossing 19th in 20:00.91. Tanner Burgin was 32nd in 20:37.6 and Brendan Ivory 35th in 20:40.07 while Chase Archer was 46th in 21:34.28 and Jayson Chavez 48th in 21:6.22.

Miguel Constanza (49th, 21:55.94) and Colin Malmberg (55th, 22:17.44) were also on the course, but did not have their places tabulated.

ADM scored 77 points to win the middle school boys two-mile. Perry was ninth in the nine-team field at 220. A total of 101 harriers ran in the event.

Tristen Hibbert (34th) and Gannon Meis (37th) were the top two Jays, in 15:21.3 and 15:24.81, respectively, with Jonathan Munoz 40th in 15:31.38. Also scoring were Sebastian Robles (54th, 16:44.04) and Ricky Ponce (55th, 17:20.78), with Kaelen Davis (62nd, 22:19.93) and Alex Cooper (63rd, 28:56.03) running as well.

Ballard’s 39 points won the girls middle school race, with Perry seventh of seven squads with 187 points. The girls race featured 81 runners.

Lydia Olejniczak crossed 22nd in 16:06.66 to lead the Jayettes, with Cadence Hurley 39th in 18:07.01. Hailey Peterson, Callie McFarland and Elaf Adam were 41-42-43 for Perry, finishing in 18:18.81, 18:26.12 and 18:41.05. Alexa Garcia (47th, 19:25.51) and Kassidy Atwell (48th, 19:44.41) also competed for Perry, as did Isabella Burgus, Valeria Gomez, Alexa Nelson and Katie Whitver.
