Perry junior varsity wrestlers compete in 17-team meet

GRIMES — DC-G hosted a junior varsity wrestling tournament Monday, with Perry one of 17 teams participating. The tourney was based on brackets, in which most wrestlers competed in three matches.

Jeb Stewart was first for Perry with wins by pin, major decision and decision, with Jordan Clark using two decisions and a pin to win his bracket while Jonathan Silva was also first in his bracket, winning with a decision and two pins.

Second-place finishes were tallied by Riece Graham and Chien Doan, with Tucker Strough, Rylee Ray and Angel Escobar each placing third in their own brackets.

Seven Bluejays were fourth: Angel Rivera, Leonard Jacobson, Charley Guardado, Daniel Brinton, Francisco Colon, Jason Zepeda, and Zach Darr.

Perry has one junior varsity event left on their schedule, a Feb. 8 tourney at Boone.
