Perry Lions Club hosts Dallas County Hospital figures

Monday’s meeting of the Perry Lions Club saw 14 Lions attending and enjoying the Hotel Pattee’s meal of tortellini pasta in a cream sauce, green beans accented with bits of bacon, hot baguette rolls and chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

Following the meal and the business meeting, Lions Club Program Chairperson Richard Jones introduced the first speaker, Dallas County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Angela Mortoza, who assumed the CEO role in March.

Mortoza gave each Lion a folder with information about the hospital’s many services and spoke about the specialist physicians who regularly visiting the hospital.

Jones then introduced Macinzie McFarland, the new DCH community relations manager. McFarland described the programs she administers, such as last week’s successful children’s Halloween party, the Ladies Night Out events and the various activities of the Dallas County Hospital Foundation.

She said she is also in charge of all advertising for the hospital.

Perry Lions Club President Lou Hoger reported on the Peace Poster Contest judging and urged  the membership to attend and participate in judging the posters. Hoger said the winning posters will go to the SW9 District meeting and from there to the state contest.

The next Perry Lions Club meeting is Monday, Nov. 14, with the meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting beginning at 7 p.m.
