The month of April was a busy month for the Perry Lions Club.

During the week of April 16, the Perry Lions took photographs of 59 Perry preschool students’ eyes and sent the results to Iowa City for vision screening evaluation. This simple procedure can usually spot children with vision problems.

In the past, the tests have discovered some serious eye problems in Perry’s preschool children. The screening process is free.

The Perry Lions Club’s April 23 Earth Day project was called Walking the Ditch and involved picking up roadside litter along a two-mile stretch of Iowa Highway 141. The members of the Lions Club bagged several hundred pounds of trash.

Plans are being made to contact Perry residents for the Flags over Perry project. Anyone interested in having a flag placed on your property five time a year — on Flag Day, Memorial Day, July Fourth, Labor Day and Veterans Day — contact Lion Dave Wright at MediCap Pharmacy.

Flags over Perry sign up can occur at any time during the year.

The Perry Lions will celebrate their annual picnic May 14 at Sportsman’s Park near Dawson. Potential new member are encouraged to contact any Perry Lion Club member about joining this active civic group. Newcomers are always welcome.
