Longtime Perry Lions Club member Harley McGuire was presented Monday with the Milestone Award Pin in honor of his 50-year membership in the Perry Lions Club and the Lions Club International organizations.

Perry Lions Club President Trisha Smith presented the pin to McGuire, who also received the prestigious Melvin Jones Award in 2022 for his service to the Perry Lions Club and the Lions Club International.

The Lions Club membership also heard a report from Mark Edge, who works for the Iowa Department of the Blind and is a member of the Altoona Lions Club.

Edge described the services his department provides to blind Iowans, including talking books and magazines, training for independent living in the home and techniques for navigating by foot on city streets and using public transportation.

Perry Lion Dave Summerson presented a Lions notebook to Edge in gratitude for his presentation.

Ray Harden is the secretary of the Perry Lions Club.
