Perry middle school cross country visits Ballard

The annual Leon Fox Invitational at Perry has been cancelled. The meet was to have been held this afternoon.

HUXLEY — Perry sent the middle school boys and girls cross country teams to the Ballard Invite Monday, with five Bluejays and seven Jayettes competing.

ADM won the 185-entrant girls race with 54 points, with DC-G second at 56 while Perry was 12th of 13 squads at 351. Norwalk (64) and Gilbert (78) claimed the top two boys team spots, with Perry 14th of 14 at 373.

Lily Myers led Perry by crossing 21st in 15 minutes and 15 seconds. Perry then placed 81-86, with Fiorella Oliver (24:43), Lydia Hochstetler (24:45), Iliana Ledesma (25:56), Sofia Saenz (25:58), Aleah Karolus (27:48), and Amelia Carter (30:08) on the course for the Jayettes.

Ledesma is an eighth-grader, the others are all in grade seven.

Thad Stuart was the first Bluejay finisher (34th, 13:57), with Gavin Leslie (66th, 15:18) the second Perry scorer. Placing 90-92 in the 223-runner competition were Kyeo Augustine (20:29), Diego Diaz-Cardenas (20:46), and Angel Rodriguez-Molina (21:40). Stuart, Augustine, and Rodriguez-Molina are in grade eight, the others in grade seven.
