Perry Middle School teacher Carla Wood and her “Power-Up” class were guests at the Perry Rotary Club meeting Wednesday at the Hotel Pattee.

Wood’s students have been researching a sobering subject: the World War II Holocaust of European Jews. They learned about the historical events through the eyes of Dana Cohen, a Holocaust survivor.

Speaking on behalf of the Rotary Club membership, Rotarian Kevin Videgar thanked Wood and her middle school students “for presenting this very interesting program.”

The students also presented their historical program to their peers earlier in the week at the Perry Performing Arts Center.

Holocaust survivor Dana Cohen lent a human face to an historical event that is otherwise impossible to process emotionally.
