Perry Police Report Feb. 28

A caller reported “a disgruntled employee who just left to go get his wife.” The caller said the disgruntled employee “was terminated” and “was going to return.” The caller asked whether an officer of the Perry Police Department could “respond to keep the peace.” An officer responded.

A caller said he caught a cat running at large. An officer responded and found “the cat has taken off.”

Two incomplete Wireless 911 calls were received. “A barking dog” and “a small child cooing” were heard in the first call and “no sound” in the second call. An officer responded and found “no one at home” and “no problems in the area.”

A caller from the Perry Elementary School reported “problems in the past where parents are not home when school lets out for the pres-school.” The caller said “the child gets dropped off there, and he needs to know someone will be there to receive him.” An officer responded, made contact with a parent and confirmed the parent was at home to receive the pres-schooler.

A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dog.

A caller said “there was a shoplifter there on Friday that is in the store now.” The caller said the person “had taken a bag of chicken and stuffed it in her pants or shirt and walked right out without paying.” Officers responded and served a no-trespass order on the person.

Jeanette K. Hornsby, 70, 1602 Second St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of third-degree theft.

A caller “said she saw two males on Iowa Highway 141 having a very heated argument.” Officers responded but did not find the heated arguers.

A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “she has been receiving text messages from her ex.” She said “there is a no-contact order between the two,” and “she is the protected party.” An officer responded.

A caller said she wanted to speak with an officer about people “smoking marijuana in their apartment.” An officer responded.

A caller said “there was someone on a four-wheeler.” The caller said “she knows that he will come back, but she is just not sure when.” An officer responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
