May 22, 2018

  • A caller said a dog was running at large. A second caller was seeking a dog matching the description of the dog running at large. The second caller “said the dog is blind and deaf.” A third caller said he caught the blind and deaf dog running at large and agreed to hold the dog until the owner picked up the dog.
  • Someone reported “a juvenile getting off the bus where he was not supposed to.” The Perry Police Department School Resource Officer responded and transported the juvenile home.
  • A caller said “he came across an injured owl.” Contact was made “with a lady that deals with large birds who lives south of town.” The caller was advised.
  • A caller said “an injured duck wandered into the shop along with 10 or 12 ducklings.” An officer responded, collected the birds and made contact with “someone to assist the duck and rehabilitate it.”
  • A caller reported “an orange ladder in the middle of the road.” An officer responded but did not find the item.
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department assisted a motorist in changing a flat tire.
  • A caller said she “received a call from Walmart, claiming she won a gift card.” The caller said she “believes it is a scam,” and she “did not provide any information.”
  • A caller asked to speak with an officer “regarding a fake Facebook account that is now gone.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a 1-year-old child and a 3-year-old child were missing, and then “she advised they had been found.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said “there was a big branch that was about to fall near the sidewalk.” Officers responded and were “able to push the tree limb off the road.” The Perry Public Works Department was notified.
  • A caller said her neighbor “always covers the road in grass clipping, and she is tired of it.” An officer responded and found “an inch of grass thrown halfway onto the road for approximately 25 feet.” The officer made contact with the mower, who said “he mowed but would clean the street up in the morning.” The officer said “a written warning would be issued.”
  • A caller said “she was in an argument with her husband, and he just head butted her.” Officers responded.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department “was flagged down by a citizen” who reported “something occurring” at a local car wash. The officer responded and found “the automatic car wash making continual circles.” The owner was notified.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department “was flagged down” by someone who reported “a dead deer on Iowa Highway 141.” An officer responded “and dragged the deer off the road.”
  • A caller reported “a suspicious person on a scooter with a dog.” Officers responded and made contact with the scooter driver, who said “he was trying to walk his dog while riding the scooter.” Failing, “he took his dog home and then came back for his scooter.”

May 23, 2018

  • A caller said someone “just tried breaking into her unlocked vehicle.” Officers responded but did not find the burglar.
  • A caller said “she heard someone banging on her kitchen window, trying to get in.” The caller called again and said “someone was throwing stuff at their front door.” Officers responded but found “no evidence of a break in or any sign of” other mischief.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
