November 7, 2016

  • A caller said “trash” was “sitting out, blocking her driveway.” The caller asked whether “an officer could come and take care of it.” There was “no officer response as the garbage department cleans up when animals tear up bags.”
  • A caller said her dog was missing. The caller later reported her dog was found.
  • A caller reported a “marijuana smell.” An officer responded but “did not detect any smell of marijuana.”
  • A caller reported illegal dumping. An officer responded.
  • A caller said the neighbors “had put all their leaves out on the street.” An officer responded and found “vehicles outside the residence, but no one answered.”
  • A caller said “he received complaints of someone raking leaves into the street.” An officer responded.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department was presented “a bag containing drug paraphernalia” that someone found.
  • A caller from the Perry Elementary School “advised of a missing student.” Officers responded and discovered the father of the missing 6-year-old child “found his son in the downtown area. All okay.”
  • Jessica Devilbiss was issued a citation for first-offense dog at large.

November 8, 2016

  • A caller said “he just heard four shots coming from the area of” Iowa Highway 141 and First Avenue in Perry. Officer responded “and could smell what smelled like gunpowder” but did not find anyone discharging a firearm.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a billfold he found. An officer responded. “Contact was made with the owner, who came into the PD to retrieve her property, and a receipt was given to her.”
  • A caller said he lost a video camera. An officer responded.
  • A caller said “her boyfriend’s wallet was lost” at a polling place.
  • A caller said “two pit bulls” running at large “attacked his dog at his residence.” Officers responded but did not find the loose dogs.
  • A caller said “someone was burning leaves after dark.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported a suspicious person “who keeps pacing back and forth in the area between” two local retail stores. Officers responded but did not find a pacing man.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
