October 3, 2018

  • A caller said someone “is wanted out of Greene County on a gas drive off.” The caller “refused to provide any further information and hung up upon further questioning.” The Perry Police Department made contact with the Greene County Sheriff’s office, which “didn’t know about any wanted vehicle as described.”
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “his truck had been broken into.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dog.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a cell phone he said he found. An officer responded, and the item was “placed in evidence.”
  • Nora Navarette of 1609 First Ave. was issued a citation for first-offense failure to register a dog and rabies control.
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department “received information” about a “sex abuse case” that was “referred by DHS.”
  • Kellie Renee Knapp, 35, 1132 23rd St., Des Moines, was arrested on a Des Moines Police Department warrant on a charge of third-degree burglary and on a Carroll County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of fifth-degree theft.
  • A caller lodged “a parking complaint against a neighbor parking in front of the mailboxes.” An officer responded and issued a citation.
  • A caller said “his wife got a call from Microsoft, stating that they needed to update a certificate on her computer.” The caller said “his wife gave out credit card information to the caller.” The caller said he “believed they were hacked” and “wanted to make officers aware.” An officer was advised.
  • A caller said “his cousin is harassing him in public again” and “called him a baby killer.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “he is at his mother’s vacant property, and there are three teenagers in the backyard getting ready to smoke pot.” An officer responded.
  • A caller from Jefferson “said she is being harassed by someone who resides in Perry.” An officer responded, “spoke to the caller” and “suggested she contact the Jefferson Police Department.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “her 10-year-old son packed a bag and left the residence.” An officer responded, “located the juvenile” and “returned him to his mother.”
  • Ozzy Herman of 734 William St. was issued a citation for first-offense dog at large.
  • A caller reported “a scammer that has been contacting her through Facebook.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “there was a tree branch blocking the road.” An officer responded, and the Perry Public Works Department was notified.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded.
  • Michael A. Little, 21, 2510 Perry Park Ave., #402, Perry, was arrested on charges of first-offense domestic abuse assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.

October 4, 2018

  • A caller said his girlfriend lost her wallet.
  • A caller from a local retail store said someone was “taking a leak” next to his vehicle. An officer responded and made contact with the urinator, who “admitted he couldn’t hold it and went outside. He is homeless, out of gas and cold.” The officer “advised him never to do it again, or he will be charged.” The urinator “said he was doing his best not to do it in front of people.”
  • Officers of the Perry Police Department conducted a funeral escort.
  • A caller reported “a neighbor that has been cutting the grass inside her fence.” An officer responded and made contact with the neighbor, who was “not sure where the property line lies as he feels he has only been mowing his side.”
  • A caller said he caught a cat running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
  • A caller said her “wallet was stolen out of her fiance’s truck.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said two dogs were running at large. An officer responded and returned the dogs to their owner.
  • A caller said “he wanted to speak to an officer in regards to suspicious items he had found in the back of his house.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “one bus was backing into a parking space and hit another Dallas County bus, and it knocked off the bumper.” An officer responded.

October 5, 2018

  • A caller said “his little brother never came home from school today.” An officer responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
