Fresh off a Division 1 rating in Pom and a second-place trophy for their Hoopla effort at the recent state competition, the Perry Pulse dancers returned to entertain the crowd at halftime of Tuesday’s boys basketball game against DC-G.

The Pulse team performed their Hoopla routine “We Are Perry.” Dancers wore outfits with American flag patches on their right arms, while each girl wore patches of countries representing her family heritage on her left arm.

Nationally-themed colors adorned many of the hoops, with many also red, white or blue or a combination of the three. The music used was Neil Diamond’s pop hit “America” originally released as a single in in 1981.

As the routine ended, members formed an American flag with their hoops, with a recorded message saying “We are all immigrants. We are all dreamers. We are all Americans. We are … Perry!”

In addition to their excellence on the floor, the group recently earned the highest team scholastic award, the IGHSAU Distinguished Academic Award for posting a cumulative GPA of 3.53 on a 4.0 scale.
