Perry schools to remain closed to April 30

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds announces the closure of state schools until May 1. Des Moines public schools announced this week they will keep their building shuttered for the remainder of the school year, whether or not Reynolds permits a statewide reopening.

In the wake of Thursday’s announcement by Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds and Iowa Department of Education Director Ann Lebo, Perry Community School District Superintendent Clark Wicks has indicated that classes in the Perry school system will be cancelled until April 30.

St. Patrick Catholic School will also remain closed until April 30.

The return date to school will be May 1.

Wicks said PCSD teachers will be in contact with their students for learning opportunities. The Iowa Department of Education has made many online resources available to support student learning at home.

Perry students last attended classes March 12. Reynolds and Lebo announced March 17 the closure the state’s school through April 13. Today’s announcement extends the closure.
