Perry began their season by pulling away in the few races to defeat a game Guthrie Center squad, 301-295, at the MCB Pool Tuesday. A 380-199 win over visiting Coon Rapids Thursday also saw several records rewritten.

Tuesday’s Results:

The 11-12 girls 100 medley relay of Sophia McDevitt, Quin Mahler-Moreno, Lilly Riley, and Zoe Hibbert finished in 2 minutes, 38.33, breaking the 2007 mark of 2:44.52 set by Shannon Thompson, Molly Repp, Claire Marburger, and Laura Finneseth.

McDevitt reset her own mark in the 100 IM, putting the new standard at 1:20.58, and her own mark in the 100 freestyle as well, with 1:12.36 the new time to beat. Along the way she bested Stephanie Hill’s 2013 standard in the 50 backstroke, putting the new record at 37.15.

Mahler-Moreno had the honor of breaking the oldest mark at the meet, touching in 41.11 in the 50 breaststroke to erase the 41.89 set in 1996 by Christina Dowd.

Isaac Winey reset a record for the PSST boys, taking down older brother Garrett’s 2015 time of 55.5 in the boys 8U 50 free with a 50.64.

Girls posting five win Tuesday included McDevitt and Mahler-Moreno along with Jaylene Karolus (13-14), with Aleah Karolus, and Maddie McDevitt (both 9-10) winning three times while Izzy Powell (8U), Clara Noble (9-10), and Hibbert all won twice. Thursday’s Results:

Three new records fell Thursday, with Isaac Winey lowering his own record from Tuesday in the boys 8U 50 free with a clocking of 48.53.

However, the biggest splash came later, when the 11-12 girls 200 freestyle relay team of Quin Mahler-Moreno, Emily Dowd, Zoe Hibbert, and Sophia McDevitt touched in 2:23.19. The effort erased the July 1, 1999 pool record of 2:23.37 set by Carroll, and also broke a nearly 24-year old team standard of 2:25 — set June 14, 1994 — by Jessica Dye, Jessica McCloud, Kate McCauley and Andrea Meyer.

Quin Mahler-Moreno, Sophia McDevitt, Dannah Karolus and Penenger all had five wins apiece for Perry, with Jaylene Karolus posting four wins. Triple wins were recorded by Izzy Powell, with Sarah Prombo (8U), Dowd, Hibbert, Abby Herman (15-18), and Sarah Vaughn (15-18) each winning twice while Clara Noble also had a victory.

Jacob Storey repeated as a five-time winner for the host boys, with Isaac Winey, Garrett Winey (11-12), Isaac Noble, Eli Noble, and Ethan Winey quadruple winners.
