Tuesday’s action at the McCreary Community Center pool heavily favored the hosts, as the Perry Summer Swim Team kicked off their season with a 365-243 victory over Jefferson.

Aleah Karolus had five wins for the Perry 8-under girls, with Sarah Prombo winning three times and both Isabelle Powell and Rachel Johnson twice.

Five wins were recorded by 9-10’s Quin Mahler-Moreno, with Rebecca Johnson posting three wins and Zoe Hibbert and Maddie McDevitt two each.

The 11-12 girls were led by Sophia McDevitt’s five wins, with Addison Huntington and Jaylene Karolus triple-winners while Sarah Merz won twice and Hailey Greiner once.

Abby Herman had a win for the 13-14 girls, with three first-place finishes from Haley Vaughn and single wins from Stephanie Hill, Dannah Karolus and Breanna Penenger leading the Perry 15-18 ladies.

Townes Wilson had three wins and Isaac Winey two for the PSST 8U boys, with Joel Storey winning once for the 9-10 boys and Garrett Winey twice for the 11-12 squad.

Riese Archer had four wins, Andrew Dowd three, Cristopher Gonzalez and Samuel Ridnour two apiece and Marus Nelson one to highlight the efforts of the 13-14 boys.

Ethan Winey was a five-time winner for the 15-18 boys, with Caleb Winey winning three times. Drew Story and Devon Archer were double-winners, with Chase Archer and Alex Thompson each winning once.

Wins are considered individual first-place victories and as members of relays which finish first.

The current PSST roster shows 31 girls and 28 boys swimming this summer. The 8U class has six girls and four boys, 9-10 seven girls and four boys and 11-12 eight girls and five boys. Only two girls swim at 13-14, but seven boys do, with the largest group by far the 15-18 team, which is evenly divided at eight girls and eight boys.

The team is coached by Jim Prombo and Haileigh Kenyon.

PSST visits Guthrie Center tonight and Coon Rapids Tuesday before hosting Carroll June 15. All meets start at 6:30 p.m.
