BOONE — Perry was in action in yet another double-dual formatted swim meet Tuesday, in which all three teams are judged singly against each other. Host Boone topped Perry, 80-20, and Algona, 81-20, with Algona scoring a 53-40 win over Perry.

Senior Haileigh Kenyon was the only Jayette with double wins at the event, beating Algona and placing second against Boone in the 200 freestyle in 2 minutes, 20.44 seconds. Kenyon was the outright winner of the 100 free with a clocking of 60.61 seconds.

Junior Haley Vaughn bested Algona and was second to Boone in the 200 individual medley in 2:39.12, with Breanna Penenger placing first and third, respectively, in the 500 free in 6:28.82. She had previously been 2-3 in the 200 free in 2:22.88.

Kenyon, Penenger, Vaughn and Sadee Whitfield began the meet with placings of 2-3 in the 200 medley relay in 2:20.3, with Vivian Gonzalez 2-3 in the 50 free in 31.66. Gonzalez was also 2-3 in the 100 backstroke in 1:22.18, with Vaughn 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke in 1:23.44.

Vaughn, Kenyon, Whitfield and Anna Ridnour were 2-3 in the 200 free relay in 2:02.25, with the quartet of Gonzalez, Whitfield, Penenger and Breanna Ackerman 2-3 in the 400 free relay in 5:00.65. Perry is not competing in the 100 butterfly this season.

Personal-best times were recorded by Penenger in the 200 free, by Ackerman in the junior varsity 100 free and by Ridnour in both the JV 50 free and 100 breaststroke.

Jayette coach Jean Dowd complimented the team for several of their individual performances while noting the squad had scored 12 more points against Algona than in a meet held August 27.

Perry will return to action Saturday when they swim in the eight-team Little Cyclone Invitational in Ames.
