Perry swimmers shine at State meet in Marshalltown

The Perry High School Swim Team successfully competed at the two-day State swim meet held in Marshalltown on Friday, Nov. 10 and Saturday, Nov. 11. Perry High School tied for 19th place with Grinnell out of the 29 teams scoring.

Day One: Nov. 10

200 Freestyle
Quin Mahler-Moreno 1:54.35, placing 6th, advancing to finals.  This time was a Personal Best Time and a New School Record.

100 Butterfly
Sophia McDevitt, 1:02.25, Personal Best Time, placing 25th

100 Breaststroke
Quin Mahler-Moreno, 1:05.62, placing 10th, advancing to finals. This time was a Personal Best time and a New School Record.

Day Two: Nov. 11

200 Freestyle
Quin Mahler-Moreno, 1:54.52 place 8th, scoring 11 points for Perry.

200 Freestyle Relay
Quin Mahler Moreno, Lilly Riley, Aleah Karolus, Sophia McDevitt, 1:44.47, placing 26th

100 Breaststroke
Quin Mahler-Moreno, 1:06.70, placed 12th, scoring 5 points for Perry.

400 Freestyle Relay
Lilly Riley, Aleah Karolus, Sophia McDevitt, Quin Mahler-Moreno, 3:48.98, placing 20th

There were 32 divers at the State Meet as well, whose scores were included in the final team scores.

PHS Head Swim Coach Jean Dowd was recognized with a service award by the Iowa High School Swim Coaches Association for 25 years of service.
