CARLISLE — A pair of timely home runs helped host Carlisle hold off Perry, 7-3, in Raccoon River Conference baseball Monday.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]

Carlisle (6-3, 2-0) held a 2-0 lead on single tallies in the second and third frames when Nic McCay lofted a three-run home run in the fourth for a 5-0 advantage.

Perry (2-5, 2-2) scored twice in the fourth and one in the sixth to cut into their disadvantage, but a two-run home run from Owen Durham pushed the score to 7-3, where it remained.

Gavin Boyer had a single and a double for the Bluejays, with Brandon Kenyon smacking a RBI-double while Kaleb Olejniczak had a base hit and stole a base. Justin Stammer, Alexis Garrido and Aaron Lockwood each walked twice, with Olejniczak and Kato Dougan also drawing a base on balls. Garrido stole and base and joined Kenyon and Keghan West in scoring once each, with Lockwood driving in a run with a RBI-ground out.

West started and pitched 3-2/3 innings, yielding five runs on eight hits and walk while striking out one. Garrido cleaned up with 3-1/3 frames, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk while fanning two.

McCay pitched the first three frames for the hosts, allowing a hit and three walks while recording eight of his nine outs via strikeout. Seth Curry — the eventual winner — threw 1-1/3 stanzas, allowing an unearned run on two walks while Lucas Olson allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits, three walks and a strikeout in 1-1/3 innings. Isaiah Henrichs recorded the final four outs, allowing a hit and a walk and striking out one.

Perry returns to action Wednesday when they host Bondurant-Farrar, with a visit to Ballard scheduled for Thursday.
