Perry wrestlers drop pair at RRC triangular

ADEL — Perry joined Boone for a Raccoon River Conference triangular at ADM Thursday.

ADM topped Perry, 48-32, with Perry also falling to Boone, 41-36. ADM was a 49-21 victor over Boone in the other dual.

Cole Nelson was 2-0 for Perry at 113 pounds with pins in 1 minute, 46 seconds and 1:56, with Wilber Ramirez scoring falls at 160 in 2:31 and 1:14 to also finish 2-0. Erick Funez (138 pounds) was 2-0 with a 9-3 decision and a pin in 3:49, with Jacob Nelson (145) 2-0 with a technical fall (18-3, 3:08) and a win by forfeit.

Carlos Vargas was 1-1 with a pin in 1:20 at 132 pounds, with Ever Tobar (152) 1-1 with a pin in 2:23 while Cole Snyder (182) finished 1-1 with a win in Sudden Victory I, 7-5.

Tanner Burgin recorded a 7-4 win at 126 to end his evening 1-1, with Hailey Peterson 1-1 at 106 with a forfeit.

Byron Melendrez (170), Logan Brokaw (220) and Alan Gomez (285) all wrestled twice for the Jays put were unable to claim a win.

The Bluejays left the 120 and 195-pound divisions uncontested.

Perry will compete with Van Meter/Earlham in a triangular at Bondurant-Farrar Thursday before wrestling in the always-tough Ames Invite Saturday.
