Perry's Erick Funez looks to turn his foe at 138 pounds, Jayden Flugge-Smith of W-G, during their match earlier this season.

Carroll and Fort Dodge St. Edmond visited Perry for a wrestling triangular Thursday, with the host Bluejays finishing 1-1 after topping FDSE, 65-15, following a 44-32 setback to Carroll. A 51-12 win over St. Edmond allowed Carroll to depart with a 2-0 mark.

Riece Graham had a pin and a 19-2 technical fall to finish 2-0 for the Bluejays at 106 pounds, with Cole Nelson scoring pins at 120 against Carroll and at 113 against FDSE to finish 2-0 as well while Taylor Atwell collected a forfeit at 113 against Carroll. Perry left 120 open against the Gaels.

Tanner Burgin (126 pounds) and Erick Funez (138) were also 2-0 for the hosts, with Burgin recording a 4-0 decision and Funez a 19-3 tech fall against Carroll before each received forfeits from FDSE. Leonard Jacobson was also 2-0 for Perry after receiving two forfeits at 195 pounds.

Jacob Nelson (145) was 1-1 with a pin against the Gaels, with Ever Tobar doing the same at 160 pounds. Alex Fickbohm (132), Cole Snyder (182), Zach Darr (220) and Alan Gomez (285) each finished with 1-1 marks, with all four winning by forfeit against the small-roster FDSE squad.

Charley Guardado (152) and Byron Melendrez (170) were both also in action for Perry, but neither were able to collect a win in either of their two matches.

Perry will return to action Saturday when they face a busy slate at the Waukee Duals, with the team competing against five different foes.
