Capitalizing on the annual garage sale mania, PEGASUS TV 12 (Mediacom digital 121), Perry’s local-access cable channel, liquidated a large part of its DVD archive Friday in a sidewalk sale.
PEGASUS TV 12 Coordinator Keith Knoll said shoppers took away many PHS sports DVDs. Other popular titles were Doug Wood’s “That’s My Opinion” series, including his notable milk-taste challenge. The Wood Family Vinton Christmas shows were also quickly snapped up, Knoll said.
Thousands of DVDs, most recorded within the last 10 years, were free for the taking. The station’s move to a digital format generated a huge backlog of DVD recordings, and they offered them to the community who created them.
Included were nearly every Perry High School football and basketball game, home and away, as well as a huge catalog of varsity baseball, softball and volleyball, with a generous number of soccer games, wrestling matches and some cross country events.
A treasure trove of Fine Arts concerts, community gatherings and events and much more were available, and shoppers browsed through graduation ceremonies, DARE events, school plays and concerts at all grade levels, the Jukebox events and Sentimental Journeys and many other activities.
The DVDs were free, but a $1 donation was recommended.
