PHS Swim Team enjoys year-end accolades, awards

The 2022 PHS Swim Team distributed the annual team awards and honors last week while enjoying homemade ice cream and brownies at the MCB. The 2022 awardees were:

  • Captains: Jenna Nelson, Lilly Riley
  • Most Lettering Points: Quin Mahler-Moreno with 1868 points.
  • Most Valuable: Quin Mahler-Moreno and Sophia McDevitt.
  • Most Academic: Sophia McDevitt and Jenna Nelson, tied with 4.069.
  • Academic All Conference: Juniors or Seniors with a 3.25 GPA or above who lettered this season. Emily Dowd, Zoe Hibbert, Sophia McDevitt, Jenna Nelson and Lilly Riley.
  • Team GPA was 3.6993 based on team member’s grades 10-12 from the last spring semester. Freshman team members are not counted since they were still in middle school during the spring semester of 2022.
  • Distinguished Award was earned from the IGHSAU by having an average combined cumulative GPA of 3-3.24 and above. Everyone on the team will receive a certificate from the IGHSAU.
  • Rookie of the Year Award: Maddie McDevitt
  • Most Improved: Emily Dowd: 15 personal best times this season.

The Perry Area Winter Swim Team (PAWS) will host its first meet Saturday, Dec. 10 at the MCB. There are currently 75 area youth registered from ages 6-18 both boys and girls. Registration is still underway. Practice starts as soon as the pool is available. Sunday afternoons, Tuesday and Thursday nights.
