Pleasantville plays rude host to W-G in WCAC softball

PLEASANTVILLE — The host Trojans pounded out 12 hits and jumped on their guests early en route to a 15-3 win in four innings of WCAC softball Wednesday.

Pleasantville (3-5) countered a Woodward-Granger (4-5) run in the top of the first inning with five tallies of their own, then touched the dish three times in the second for an 8-1 edge. W-G scored twice in the third, but five more Trojan runs and two final scores in the fourth brought an early end to the outing.

Rian Jamison was tagged with the loss from the circle. She allowed 15 runs (13 earned) on 12 hits while striking out one.

Emma Anderson, Katelyn Bandstra and Allie Moore had base hits for the Hawks, with Georgia Simmons smacking a double. Moore had two RBIs, with Anderson, Abby Pommrehn and Libby Grell scoring for the guests.

Faith Vanderhart scattered four hits and two walks while striking out six in four frames. Two of the three W-G runs were earned.

The McKinney girls did most of the damage for the hosts. junior Amber had two singles and a double, sophomore Mallory  a single and a double and senior Bridgette a single and a double. Rachel Harvey helped her team with a pair of doubles.

W-G is at Earlham Friday, with the varsity game starting at 5:30 p.m. and the junior varsity to follow. The Hawks return home Monday to host Ogden.
