Thursday night’s Halloween-themed Trivia with Friends fundraiser for the Perry Public Library matched pointed wits with creative kits as a costume contest was made part of the fun.

Eight rounds were played, with categories ranging from Halloween trivia to Star Wars trivia to Common in the U.S.A. trivia. The pumkin-spiced questions composed by Perry Public Library Director Princess Mary Murphy and moderated by KDLS’ Chris Cohea.

Trivialists lubricated their wits with refreshments served by Lynsi Pasutti, and shepherd’s pie was available by special order from Harvey’s at the Pattee Hotel.

The library’s own Library Jack-O-Lanterns won the nine-way trivia competition. Also rans included the All Stars, Trivia Puns, Alice Cooper, Shake-n-Bake, Mama Gloria’s Mighty Minions, the Deplorables, Fake News and Joanne’s Team Blue.

The prize for the best Halloween costume went to Deadpool, aka Jamie Kelley of Boone. He and his wife, Ronda Kelley, in the guise of blonde-headed Betty from the Archie comics, will enjoy free bowling at the Hotel Pattee.

Other costume-contest winners included Joanne Warnock as the Blue Woman, Joe Cerwinske as a Star Wars character, Kirk Hermann as a Swashbuckler, Carol and Marlene Johnson as the Pumkin Pi Sisters and Andrea Brownlee as the Kitchen Queen.

The semi-annual trivia contests are sponsored by the Friends of the Perry Public Library and raise funds for library programming.

The library’s own Library Jack-O-Lanterns won the nine-handed, Halloween-themed trivia contest Thursday with a scord of 38 out of 40 points.
