The Rippey Library Board of Trustees took time from the Car-tober festivities Saturday to present outgoing Rippey Public Library Director Katrina Buttler a gift card in appreciation of her time as librarian in Rippey.
“I honestly cannot put into words my appreciation and gratitude to everyone that helped with the Fall Festival and Cartober Fest,” an emotional Buttler said. “This is my last post as librarian, and I can’t think of a better day to end my time at the Rippey Library than the one I had Saturday. Thank you all!”
The Favorite Car award was won by Rippey’s own Mark Day for his 1968 Chevy Camaro, with Cory Dunn winning for Favorite Truck and Dennis Owens for Favorite Tractor. Raffle winners were also announced for the 50/50 and a night’s stay at Hotel Pattee.
Buttler was pleased by the big turnout for the fall festivities.
“I was hoping for 20 cars and we had 45,” she said. “Lots of kids and visitors painted pumpkins, popped balloons for pizza prizes, got their faces painted, played bean bags, ate soup and pork loins and got some yummy treats at the bake sale and then stayed to watch Hocus Pocus.”
Buttler, who plans to venture into the restaurant business, said the community deserves thank for its participation.
“Thank you to everyone who helped by baking goodies, making soup, cleaning up, decorating, helping throughout the day and all those that came out to enjoy a beautiful day in Rippey,” she said.
