The Dallas Center Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of West Polk County District 6000 teamed up Oct. 31 to provide dictionaries to all the fourth graders in the Dallas Center-Grimes Community School District.
There are four elementary schools in the growing DC-G district, and each of the 240 fourth graders received a personalized dictionary for use at school or in the home.
“The clubs aim to foster a positive and supportive relationship with their local school district while also enriching the students’ educational resources,” said Dallas Center Rotarian Matt Fox. “The message is twofold: the students learn how Rotary helps in their community and how Rotary helps people around the world.”
Fox said the Dallas Center Rotary Club has made it a tradition for many years to provide dictionaries to local fourth graders. This year’s collaboration with the West Polk County Rotary enabled both clubs to provide enough dictionaries for the region’s growing student population.
“The students always have many good questions,” Fox said, “and their teachers are very appreciative of the effort.”
