Ryan Scott Albritton was born July 9, 1973, in Perry, Iowa.

Ryan grew up in Perry with his parents, Jim and Jill (Whiton) Dorman.

He graduated from Perry High School in 1991.

After high school, Ryan attended Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., and earned his bachelor’s degree in business and marketing in 1995.

Ryan was a member of the National Honor Society in high school and played third base on the Perry High Baseball team that finished second in the state tournament.

Ryan loved working on the family farm with Grandpa Bill and Uncle Scott and was proud to go from being a Perry Bluejay to being a Creighton Bluejay. He was truly a Bluejay for life!

Ryan married Stephany Kay Haag in Omaha July 26, 1997, and to this union, a son, Andrew Ryan, was born.

The family made their home in Omaha.

Ryan worked in sales and account management for several years while his health allowed him to do so. He continued to work at ShopKo until this past November.

He never let cancer define who he was or how he lived his life.

He was a fan of the Creighton Bluejays, the Iowa State Cyclones and was a huge fan of the New York Mets. His favorite player was Gary Carter, and Ryan wore No. 8 in tribute to him. He was even fortunate enough to attend Mets Spring Training in 2016.

In addition to his passion for baseball, Ryan enjoyed listening to classic rock music, sipping a brewed iced tea and was a bit of a Star Wars geek.

Ryan was a loyal, compassionate, funny, hard-working man with great patience and perseverance. He cherished his family, and was proud of the birth of his son, Drew, and found great pleasure in coaching his baseball team, and being Drew’s Dad.

Ryan will be remembered as the World’s Best Hugger, as a man who loved to make people laugh and as a great listener.
