FORT DODGE — Cedar Rapids Xavier scored early and often while restraining the DC-G offense to record an 11-0 win in five innings in their Class 4A state consolation contest Wednesday.[wpedon id=”85410″ align=”left”]

The IGHSAU no longer offers fifth and seventh-place games, bringing the season to an end for both the victorious Saints (26-17) and the Fillies (18-24).

Xavier pounded out 12 hits in the win, scoring five times in the first inning and three times apiece in both the bottom of the second and bottom of the third innings.

Riley Hall suffered the loss off the rubber for DC-G, yielding five runs (four earned) on three hits and a walk in one inning of work. Lani Gannon tossed three frames, surrendering six runs (three earned) on nine hits and two walks.

Amber Fistler, Kylie Merical, Jessica Bales and Gannon each had base hits for the Fillies, with Lauren Osborn and Grace Stevens each reaching base by drawing a walk.

Fistler and Stevens were the only seniors this season for Steve Schlafke’s squad, who reached the state tournament with upset wins over Carlisle and Pella before falling to ADM, 9-1, in the state quarterfinals Tuesday.
