St. Nicholas, riding in a sleigh drawn by a sauropod, brings the holiday shopping season to Perry's downtown business and cultural district.

St. Nicholas, also known as Santa Claus, made the first of his planned seasonal appearances in the Perry area this week when he arrived riding in a sleigh drawn by a dinosaur at the restored Perry Oil Co. at 1223 Willis Ave.

The mythical giftbearer from the North Pole and the Brontosaurus from the late Jurassic epoch were tricked out in their traditional holiday garb, with the sauropod also sporting a red nose for the happy shopping season.

Joe Unger of Perry began lovingly restoring the vintage gas station in the summer of 2017, which stands as the entrance to Perry’s downtown business and cultural district.
