CEDAR FALLS — The Fall Study session at UNI Tuesday had a World War II theme, as several students on the Perry High School Academic Decathlon team discovered.

Students Brian Amaya, Devon Archer, Cale Cooklin, Kyla Devilbiss, Abbilyn Fuller, Denisse Gonzalez, Jairo Murillo and Bailey Piper attended the event. Coaches Teresa Kresse and Lisa Schumacher accompanied the team.

One area of subject studied was the physics and match used in by the Manhattan Project, the name of the of scientists and engineers who created the atomic bomb. Simulations and several hands-on activities allowed the students to receive a deeper understanding of the concepts discussed.

A graphic design professor shared information about the role played by artists during Word War II, with an emphasis on the use of propaganda during the war.
